(CNN) -- Twenty-two Carnival Cruise Lines passengers were robbed of valuables and their passports during a shore excursion in the Mexico seaside resort of Puerto Vallarta, cruise officials said late Saturday.

The passengers were robbed Thursday during a guided trail excursion, according to a statement released by the cruise line.

The cruise line did not provide details of the robbery, saying only that there were no injuries and the tour was suspended on future sailings under further notice.

"Carnival is working with guests to reimburse them for lost valuables and assist with lost passports or other forms of identification," the statement said.

The robbery comes two weeks after the U.S. State Department issued a travel warning to Americans to avoid all but essential travel to all or parts of 14 Mexican states, including the state of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta is the sixth-largest city in Jalisco.

The State Department also warned travelers to use caution in visiting part of Baja California, Colima and Morelos.

The 3,000-plus passenger Carnival Splendor set sail February 19 from Long Beach, California, for a seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise that included stops in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, according to the ship's online itinerary.

The travel warnings and reports of increasing violence in Mexico have caused many cruise lines to curb their itineraries, either eliminating and shortening stops.

A number of cruise lines dropped Mazatlan from itineraries last year following a spike in violence.

Puerto Vallarta has remained a tourism hotspot, drawing college students during Spring vacations as well as cruise passengers.

The travel warnings follow reports that more than 47,500 people were killed in drug-related violence in Mexico between December 2006 and September 2011, according to the State Department. BANGKOK (AP) ? Some 85,000 HIV-infected people in Myanmar are not getting treatment due to a lack of funding, despite renewed international engagement with the government amid a wave of political reform, a medical aid group said Wednesday.

Doctors Without Borders warned in its report that the situation in Myanmar could worsen after the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria cut funding worldwide because of a shortfall in donations.

The money was expected to provide HIV drugs for 46,500 people in Myanmar and help treat another 10,000 sickened by drug-resistant tuberculosis, the report said.

Cases of tuberculosis ? a major killer of HIV patients ? in Myanmar are nearly triple the global rate, as difficult-to-treat forms of the disease that do not respond to common treatment surge.

In 2009, the U.N. estimated 240,000 people were infected with HIV and about 18,000 were dying from it annually in Myanmar, which has one of the world's worst health systems.

Doctors Without Borders provides antiretroviral drugs to about 23,000 people at 23 clinics nationwide, funding more than half of all HIV treatment being provided to nearly 40,000 patients, said Peter Paul de Groote, who heads the organization's Myanmar operation.

Myanmar receives a fraction of the international aid provided elsewhere, largely because many nations did not support the former reclusive military government that ruled for nearly half a century. But last year, a nominally civilian government took office and launched unexpected reforms that have been applauded by the international community.

"Regardless of what is happening in the country, the people that are in need of treatment, need treatment," de Groote said by phone. "Of course, we all hope that the developments as they seem to be going in that direction will lead to more money into the country, but, in general, I think this money should be coming in regardless of what the situation is."

Buying a new car can be an unsettling experience no matter who you are, but it?s traditionally been all the tougher for women ? who are often treated like second-class citizens, either more trouble than they?re worth or as easy marks to be easily taken advantage of.

?When I started looking for my last car, the first dealer?I went to told me to come back when I could bring my husband with me.? He clearly didn?t think I was smart enough to do it myself,? recalls Alice Hissler, a single PhD scientist at a major Michigan university.

Hissler is by no means alone, and women are more likely than men to express frustration at the car buying experience.? But that?s beginning to change, driven by automakers, retail trade groups and women themselves who are using word-of-mouth and social media to get the word about which dealers to patronize and which to avoid.

Police: Journalist couple killed in Bangladesh (AP)

DHAKA, Bangladesh ? Two television journalists in Bangladesh found stabbed to death Saturday in their home in the capital of Dhaka, police said. The motive of the killings is unknown.

Police officer Imam Hossain said authorities are investigating the killings early Saturday of Sagar Sarwar and his wife, Mehrun Runi. Sarwar was news editor of private TV station Massranga and Runi worked as a reporter at another private television, ATN Bangla. Both were in their late 30s.

It was unclear if their deaths were related to their work, Hossain says.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has offered condolences to the family and ordered police to find the killers.

Sawar's colleagues said he worked late in the night Friday before leaving for home, where he lived with his wife and their 5-year-old son.

Relatives went to the house after the child called his grandmother, who lives in the neighborhood, saying his parents were lying in a pool of blood in their bedroom.

Police said Sarwar was found with his hands tied from behind. No valuables were missing from the house, investigators said.

It seems that Apple?s legal team just cannot catch a break these days, and the company?s lawyers certainly seem to have their work cut out if they are to avoid a large payout to Proview, a monitor and display company.

Proview is apparently the owner of a Chinese trademark for the term ?iPad? and is currently locked in a legal battle with Apple over the use of the word for its ? you guessed it ? iPad.

The matter has already found its way into the courts, with large sums of money currently being discussed. The biggest number to come across our computer screens today is a staggering one, with Proview apparently set to ask Apple for a cool $1.5 billion in compensation for the whole ordeal?

Proview originally registered the iPad trademark as long as twelve years ago, long before Apple announced the iPad. With Apple clearing such trademark issues up across the globe, China is proving something of a sticking point with Proview seemingly set to fight Apple at every juncture.

?Proview made a formal complaint to the Xicheng administration in 2011 and they had planned to slap Apple with a 240 million yuan ($38 million) fine, but it was suspended after Apple?s objections,? said Xie Xianghui, a lawyer from the Shenzhen branch of Grandall Law Firm. Xie says that Proview has also filed lawsuits against Apple authorized retailers and plans to ask for 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion USD) in compensation from Apple.

Apple could do without such?distractions?at a time when its legal eagles are already embroiled in legal battles with various companies strewn across the globe. Motorola, Samsung and HTC are already in Apple?s crosshairs, and Proview will now become a very prominent target for those in Apple?s underground war bunker.

Futures fall on Greek bailout talks' setback (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) ? Stock index futures fell on Friday as the latest setback in Greek negotiations for a bailout package put the S&P 500 on track to snap a three-day winning streak.

* Workers in Greece went on strike against fiscal reform measures while euro zone finance ministers said the fiscally troubled nation will need to make more cuts in order for them to grant bailout funds.

* Stocks rose modestly on Thursday to push the S&P up 7.5 percent for the year after an apparent deal was reached between Greek parties on reforms.

* European shares fell as the new conditions put the deal in jeopardy, with the FTSEurofirst 300 (.FTEU3) index of top European shares was down 0.6 percent.

* Bank shares stumbled on concerns over the latest stumbling block in the debt crisis. The STOXX Europe 600 euro zone Banking Index (.SX7E) fell 1.6 percent. Bank of America Corp (BAC.N) lost 1.7 percent to $8.04 and Citigroup Inc (C.N) fell 1.7 percent to $33.10 in premarket trade.

* S&P 500 futures fell 9 points and were below fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures lost 60 points, and Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 11.25 points.

* Adding to the dour tone, China's imports fell in January the most since the depths of the financial crisis, raising concerns demand may be in wilting more than previously thought, even accounting for Lunar New Year Factory shutdowns.

* Economic data expected on Friday includes December international trade figures from the Commerce Department at 8:30 a.m. (1330 GMT). Economists expect a trade deficit of $48.0 billion in December versus a deficit of $47.75 billion in November.

* The Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers is due at 1455 GMT. February's preliminary consumer sentiment index is expected to come in at 74.5 compared with 75.0 in the final January report.

* Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba plans to take private its Hong Kong-listed unit, two sources familiar with the matter said, as part of a complex deal that would strengthen founder Jack Ma's control and give key stakeholder Yahoo (YHOO.O) cash and a direct stake in one of Alibaba's operating businesses.

* NYSE Euronext (NYX.N) narrowly beat analyst forecasts with a 13 profit rise to $212 million in the fourth quarter, after Deutsche Boerse's DB1Gn.DE plan to take over the trans-atlantic exchange were scuppered last week.

* As earnings season moves into its tail end, 339 companies in the S&P 500 have reported results through Thursday morning, with 63 percent topping analyst expectations, according to Thomson Reuters data, tracking below recent quarters through this stage of the earnings season.
